With the coastline over 3200 km, Vietnam has a large territorial waters with hundreds of large and small islands distributed from North pole to South pole. Due to the islands are far from coast so the power supplying to residential areas on the island is difficult, the technology solutions of power supply exploited at the present are not stable, continuous and high quality. The study of sui/able solution of sustainable power supply for island area in Vietnam is a very urgent need. Basing on assessment of social economic, natural condition, power usage demand of island area, the article introduces the research results of status emluation of current power supply solutions, proposing suitable technology to supply sustainable power for island area in Vietnam, and the research results at Co To island district (Quang Ninh province) and Me island (Thanh Hoa province). And the result shows that this technology can apply for many island areas having similar natural condition in Vietnam.
