Objective: Restoring the aesthetic and function of the nasal alar defects is still a challenge. Nasal alar is an important subunit and should be properly evaluated during reconstruction to achieve a good results. In this research, the authors use different methods depending on the type of the defects to reconstruct the nasal alars. Methods: all patients admitted at Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery of Cho Ray Hospital, who underwent surgical treatment for nasal alar defects from Jan 2012 to Jan 2014. Results: the reasons for the deformity were skin's tumors (5 cases), burn scar (10 cases), cunstructed scar (9 cases) and post-trauma (4 cases). The average diameter was 1.1 cm. If the defects involved the cartilaginous framework, concha cartilage grafts would be used to restore the curve of the alars.
