Many countries in the world have strong agricultural cooperative movements such as the United States, Germany, Netherlands and Canada. In the United States, agricultural cooperatives occupy an important market share in social food supply, supporting farmers to compete with businesses, many agricultural cooperatives with billions of dollars in revenue and competition on global scope. Agricultural cooperatives in the United States are voluntary organizations of farmers who produce crops, livestock and aquacultural products (USDA, 2013). Under the impact of economic globalization, the development of science and technology, in the United States, has been undergoing a dramatic transformation of organizational models and changes in the legal environment for agricultural cooperatives activities. This article summarizes the process of developing agricultural cooperatives in the United States since the first agricultural cooperative to date

since then, give some lessons for Vietnam.Trên thế giới nhiều nước có phong trào Hợp tác xã nông nghiệp (HTXNN) phát triển mạnh như Hoa Kỳ, Đức, Hà Lan, Canada. Tại Hoa Kỳ, HTXNN chiếm thị phần quan trọng trong cung cấp thực phẩm cho xã hội, hỗ trợ nông dân cạnh tranh với doanh nghiệp, nhiều HTXNN có doanh thu hàng tỷ đô la và cạnh tranh trên phạm vi toàn cầu. HTXNN ở Hoa Kỳ là tổ chức tự nguyện của những người nông dân sản xuất các sản phẩm trồng trọt, chăn nuôi và nuôi trồng thủy sản (USDA, 2013). Dưới tác động của toàn cầu hóa kinh tế, sự phát triển của khoa học và công nghệ, tại Hoa Kỳ đã và đang diễn ra quá trình chuyển đổi mạnh về mô hình tổ chức và thay đổi về môi trường pháp lý cho HTXNN hoạt động. Bài viết này tổng kết lại quá trình phát triển HTXNN ở Hoa Kỳ từ khi có HTXNN đầu tiên đến nay
tổng quan môi trường pháp lý cho HTXNN phát triển
từ đó, đưa ra một số bài học kinh nghiệm cho Việt Nam.
