In the context of strong growing global economic, energy demand is becoming more urgent, and traditional energy sources such as coal, petroleum, shale gas... are increasingly exhausted, the gas hydrate (GH) is defined new energy sources to replace fossil fuels in the future. GH normally exists in a stahle status in 500m water depth corresponding to the hydrostatic pressure greater 50 at. Gas hydrate stability zone (GHSZ) exists tn the depth of several hundred meters helow sea floor at the continental slope. Many maritime countries around the world have special interest and appropriate investment for research, investigation and assessment of potential resources of this source type. According to the USGS assessment, Viet Nam has average potential of gas hydrutes among the Asian countries include (in descending order): Philippines, Srilanka. Malaysia, Vietnam, Japan, China and Pakistan. The report will give a brief overview of GH resources potential of Vietnamese East Sea and orienlation for research, assessment and investigation of gas hydrate and process to exploitation and recovery GH in the future.
