Cross-border trade development is one of the important policies of the Thai government. Beginning in 1988, Thailand announced its policy of "turning Indochina from a battlefield to a market". This policy, together with the GMS regional economic integration program, has helped deepen economic relations and expand Thailand's trade with neighboring countries. By assessing the potential of Thailand's border trade development, the paper analyzes and points out the status and policies of the Thai government in promoting border trade activities, thus giving some implications for Vietnam's border trade development.
