Thu Thiem (District 2, Ho Chi Minh City) is an area along the banks of the Giong Ong To river to the Saigon River, formed by families living on a long river. Along with the process of trade exchange and settlement, the worship of Ba (Mau Mau) was formed with the system of Mieu Ba along the river. Since 1996, after the Ho Chi Minh City government implemented a policy to clear the area of Thu Thiem, the shrine heads and indigenous people have temporarily "resided" statues and worshiping facilities to other places and expect there is restoration of the temple. That shelter is the place for the indigenous people to meet, community activities together, showing the community cohesion remains. It also shows that the folk mind has a great power in keeping the memories of a land, contributing to building a cultural layer and shaping the value of life for the current community.
