In recent years, floods in the Central region in general and the Lam River basin in particular have occurred more frequently with more serious levels of human, female and ecological environment. The prevention and mitigation of flood damage is an extremely urgent issue that is paid attention to by many organizations and scientists around the world and Vietnam. In order to find solutions to restrict flooding, it is necessary to analyze and research. In order to find out solutions to limit floods, it is necessary to analyze and study the factors that directly affect floods. The cause of impacts on floods lasts in addition to rainfall, slope, river network density, land use type, the water permeability of soils is also a major factor affecting flood risks. Implementation of the solution would be easier if the data on these influence factors were presented on the map with corresponding levels of risk. The paper summarizes the method of creating soil hierarchy maps using GIS technology. This will be a useful document for zoning risk and flood warnings in the study area.
