NAC transcription factors are a family of proteins with diverse functions. They are unique to plants and play an important role in regulating the growth and development of plants, in regulating hormones and response to various stresses, ... and may play important roles in biotic and abiotic resistance pathways. In this study the authors successfully amplified, cloned and identified nucleotide sequencing of ZmNAC1 gene from DNA genome of four Vietnamese maize cultivars (LVN4, VX, HN88, QB). Sequence analysis showed that ZmNAC1 gene of cultivars L VN4 and VX is 1035 bp in length, and ZmNAC1 gene ofcultivars HN884 and QB is 1041bp in length. The coding region of ZmNAC1 gene is 939 bp in size, encoding for 312 amino acids. Amino acid sequence of the deductive NAC1 protein in all cultivars appeared difference on amino acid. The differences in ZmNAC1 gene sequences are the basis for continuous study the relation between changes in the structure of ZmNAC1 gene with drought tolerance of maize.
