Objectives: To evaluate the dinical manifestations for diagnosis and strategy of surgical treatment in neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). Methods: the prospective study of 15 patients with NF2 admitted to the Viet-Duc hospital between 9/2006 to 6/20013. Results: Age of patients ranged from 15-45 years. Mean age at first symptoms was 18 years. 67 percent patients present with hearing loss, tinnitus as initial symptom. Adult presentation was vestibular schwannoma in 78 percent cases, and paediatric presentation was meningioma. Diagnosis criteria for NF2 base on bilatereal vestibular schwannomas. 55 percent patients associated with other tumours of brain and spine. The primary management: 78 percent patients required microsurgery for unilateral vestibular schwannoma, 13 percent for spinal tumours. Conclusions: The diagnosis of NF2 was bilateral vestibular schwannomas. The operation was indicated with large tumour, compressing and manifestating clinical features.
