Purpose: To assess the initial results of bipolar resection of the prostate in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia in No.103 hospital. Patients and Methods: A desciptive cross-sectional study was performed on 52 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia who underwent bipolar resection of the prostate from February 2011 to December 2012
the main examed criteria were IPSS, QoL score and Qmax. Results: Mean operation time 63.28 min, mean hospital stay 6.43 days, mean catheterization time 4.12 days
clinical symptoms and uroflow index improved significantly in which postoperative Qmax increased by 9.1 mils on average
1-month efficacy of treatment: excellent, good, fair and poor were 62.2 percent, 18.6 percent, 14.1 percent va 5.1 percent, respectively. Conclusions: There were good initial results in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia by bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate in No.103 hospital.
