Purpose: The study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of single dose 30 mg of ketorolac on postoperative analgesia. Material and method: The study included 50 patients undergoing laparoscipic cholecystectomy and appendectomy from November 2011 to March 2012 at the Anaesthesia Department of the No.108 Hospital. All patients received single dose 30 mg of ketorolac intravenous 15 minutes before the end of the surgical procedure for posoperative pain treatment. The patients who had the level of pain relief on VAS 4 (Visual Analogue Scale) received 2 mg Morphin every 15 minutes, until the level of pain on VAS 3
the maximum dosage was 10 mg. The hemodynamic change was monitored
and the authors also recorded the level of pain as well as side effects for 6 hours after operation. Results: Ketorolac is an effective adjunct to reduce posoperative pain. The level pain at rest on VAS was between 1.5 + or - 3.3 while the level of pain at activeness ranged from 1.9 + or - 3.8. The heart rate and blood pressure were stable. No morphin was recommended for pain management. The side effects such as nausea, vomiting and ileus were less common. Conclusions: Ketorolac is well suited to prevent posoperative pains. It can be recommended as a safety and efficacy for posoperative pain management.
