Lewatit monoplus M 500 is a strongly basis, gelular anion exchange resin with beads of uniform size based on a styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer in highly regenerates form, designed for all demineralization application. In the present study the sorption of nitrite anion from aqueous solution was investigated by using Lewatit monoplus M 500. The effects of factors such as pH (from 2 to 12)
anion, nitrite concentration (from 10 to 2000 mgll) and sorption temperature (from 10°C to 40°C) have been studied. The results showed that only the anion is significantly influenced adsorption capacity of nitrite anion and the maximum pH for efficient sorption of nitrite anion was 7. Also results indicate that maximum adsorption capacity anion nitrite of anion exchange Lewatit monoplus M 500 was 30.75 mglg with the regression coefficient 97.63 percent. The experimental results demonstrated that Lewatit monoplus M 500 anionexchange resin could be used effectively for the removal of nitrite anion from aqueous solution medium.
