The study was to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment of knee osteoarthritis by combination catgut embedding therapy and "Doc hoat tang ky sinh" remedy. The open clinical trial compared the results before and after treatment of 60 patients with ostoarthritis. The 60 patients were divided into 2 groups. One group was treated with a combination of catgut embedding therapy and "Doc hoat tang ky sinh" and the other group was treated with the "Doc hoat tang ky sinh" alone. After 30 days of treatment, patients in both groups showed significant improvement prior treatment according to VAS indicators, Lequesne index and range of knee movement. However, those patients treated with a combination of catgut embedding therapy and "Doc hoat tang ky sinh" showed significant more improvement (p 0.01) than those treated with the "Doc hoat tang ky sinh" alone. In conclusion, the method of combining both catgut embedding therapy and "Doc hoat tang ky sinh" method is an effective and safe method in treating knee osteoarthritis.
