Network externalities are a new economic phenomenon which has drawn the attention of many economists and been widely applied by enterprises in recent time. Network externalities are defined as the higher benefit an agent gets from an activity when a number of other agents are taking the same one. After a short time, network externalities have proved their positions and roles in the business strategies of many enterprises in the world. Telecommunications is a high technology sector, so the effects of network externalities can be seen very clearly here (a typical example lies in the higher benefits subscriber gets when the number of subscribers in the same network increases). Business activities of Vietnam telecommunications enterprises are going through considerable environmental changes, which requires them to innovate new and effective strategies to successfully compete in the international market.
