Vanadium oxide supported on mesoporous material SBA15 was synthesized by impregnation and tested in the oxidative dehydrogenation of n-butane. The surface texture and surface acidity of the samples were studied by using BET ,and TPD-NH3 techniques, respectively. The obtained results indicated that the catalysts which contain a high concentration of surface acidic sites are poorly selective in particular those of high strength. By comparing the catalytic results of VOx dispersed on the mesoporous support (SBA15), used in this work with those of other catalysts it is readily seen that these materials are promising candidates for further improvement.
