Sixty seven species of. wild mammals from 26 families and 11 orders have been identified from a survey conducted in Hoai An district, Binh Dinh province. From the result, 45 species, 10 families and 4 orders have been added to the list of wildlife in Hoai An district
an additional list of 17 wild mammal species in Binh Dinh. 28 species of rare mammals has been listed in Vietnam's Red Book 2007 under the Government Decree 32/2006/ND-CP. The diversity of wild mammals has been severely reduced. At present, only 10 species of wild mammals has the high number of individuals (14,9 percent)
seven species with the average number of individuals (10,4 percent )
16 species with the low number (23,9 percent)
27 endangered mammal species in rare level (40,3 percent). Seven species of wild mammals (10,4 percent) have become extinct locally such as: elephant, tiger, clouded leopard, amur leopard, fire wolf, otter, long-tailed monkey. In conclusion, the fauna of Hoai An district is fairly diverse, containing several valuable genes
however, the population of most of the wild mammals has been seriously decreased. Thus, it is essential for us to carry out a real plan to effectively protect and sustainably develop these precious resources.
