Rationale: Malaria is one of the health problems which needs to be applied appropriate measures to reduce morbidity for people living in the border area. Objectives: To identify the proportion of malaria parasite infection at communities living in the Viet-Cambodia border area in Quang Truc commune and to identify malaria mosquito species, densities, the malaria parasite infection proportion by ELISA and to describe some risk factors causing malaria parasite infection in the Viet-Cambodia border area. Method: A cross-sectional study Results: The proportion of malaria parasite infection in the Viet-Cambodia border area was 6.19 percent. In the study, a total of 10 malaria mosquito species were collected and there was the presence of An.minimus, a main vetor. The malaria parasite proportion of mosquitoes by ELISA was 6.67 percent. The people sleeping under bed nets while crossing bordez: area accounted for a low rate of 72.10 percent. The malaria parasite proportion among border-crossing people was 9.46 percent, higher than 4.61 percent among non-border crossing people (p0.05). The malaria parasite proportion among border-crossing people not sleeping under bednets was. 13.75 percent, higher than 4.17 percent among those sleeping under bednets (p0.05). Conclusion: The risk of malaria infection in the communities along the Viet-Cambodia border was very high
therefore it is necessary to apply appropriate measures to reduce mortality and morbidity due to malaria in this area.
