A prospective study was carried on 205 adult burn patients treated at Burn Intensive Care Unit, National Institute of Burns from 01/01/2010 to 31/12/2011. ARDS was defined as (the American-European Consensus Conference in 1994. Results showed that ARDS was recorded in 33.17 percent. average one set point of ARDS was around 6 days postburn. Mean value of PaO2 at the diagnosed ARDS was 54.93 + or - 10.10mmHg with PaO2/FiO2 ratio of 122.35 + or - 31.35. High incidence of septic shock, septicemia, organ dysfunction and multiple organ failure were significanly recorded among patients with ARDS as compared to non- ARDS group. Mortality rate of ARDS patients was 77.94 percent and extremely high among patients with inhalation injury (93.61 percent vs. 42.85 percent).
