Objective: Value of B- type natriuretic in the prognosis of mortality in hemodialysis patients. Subjects: The authors selected 81 patients or = 18 years of age, dialysis time period or = 3 months at Can Tho Central General Hospital and Can Tho General Hospital. Methods: The cohort study. Results: From August 2011 to August 2013, the authors have been selected 81 objects in the sample, the average follow-up 14.97 + or - 7.61 months, all-cause death ocurred in 12 patients. The cutoff point for BNP according to the ROC curve was 961 pg/ml for allcause mortality with sensitivity and specificity of 83,33 percent and 52,17 percent, respectively (AUC 0.68 and confidence interval (C1) 95 percent 0.57-0.78). Kaplan Meier analysis showed that all-cause mortality (p = 0.001) were the cause of a significantly lower survival in patients with a mean BNP 961 pg/ ml. The univariate Cox regression analysis found the following factors to be predictors of all-cause mortality: BNP, albumin and systolic hypertension. The multivariate Cox regression analyses demonstrated that BNP 961 pg/ml with HR 8,52 (C1 95 percent [1,34-14,090], P = 0,02) were predictors of all-cause mortality. Conclusions: The study pointed out that BNP 961 pg/ml identify hemodialysis patients at increased risk of all-cause mortality in hemodialysis patients.
