The paper studies on the biological characteristics, reproduction and growth abilities of HA hybrid chickens (1/4 Egypt and 3/4 HyLine Brown. The, HyLine Brown (HB) is a high egg-yield breed of American chicken first imported into Vietnam in 1995. The Egyptian chicken (AC) was imported into Vietnam years ago is a common backyard species produced for both eggs and meat. This study was conducted to evaluate the reproduction and growth abilities of HA chickens created by crossbreeding AC and F1 (HB x AC). Egg production, feed consumption per 10 eggs produced, fertility and hatchability were also investigated. The results were as follows: HA chicken had a high survival rate. When 1 to 9 weeks old and 10 to 19 weeks old, this parameter was 95.33 percent and 97.24 percent, respectively. Egg production averaged 10.85 eggs/hen/6 months. There was a feed conversion ratio per 10 eggs of 2.26. The color of the egg shells was similar to that of AC chickens. The fertility and hatchability of the HA was 97.69 percent and 86.99 percent, respectively. It is suggested that it would be practical and effective to raise the HA breed on farms to produce eggs.
