The literature of Vietnam consists of that of the predominant Kinh group and also that ethnic groups which are less sizeable. The Thai ethnic people in Vietnam are quite numerous and their culture is rich. Thai literature is noteable and the narrative poem is the most common form of Thai literature. Thai narrative poems are similar in many ways to the Nom narrative poems of the Kinh people. By comparing the plot of 'Trang nguyen' (Thai) with the plot of 'Tong tran cuc hoa' (Kinh), the authors can see some interesting contrasts.
