Introduction: Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is the primary cause for cervical cancer. There are currently many methods to detect HPV, among which the most accurate one is HPV type test using PCR. Objective study was determine the prevalence of HPV types in women's communities in Can Tho and some related factors. Research subject and method: The study variables: age, number of sexual hygiene, age of first sexual intercourse (18 years or or = 18 years), contraceptive methods, number of pregnancies and the number of HPV infection, HPV types. Sectional descriptive research via HPV type test using PCR techniques at the National Hospital of Dermatology with 1000 PAP'smear taken from women in Can Tho. The reaserch timeframe was March 2011 - November 2011. Results: Number of women gynecological exams and tests at most between the ages of 40-49 to 35.4 percent. Overall HPV prevalence was 10.2 percent in the community. The lowest HPV prevalence in the age group S 29 (18.8 percent) and highest in the age group 4049 (29.4 percent). Increased prevalence of HPV among women first sex 18 years and 4 pregnancies. Contraception with condoms lowest HPV prevalence.
