Analysis of the nucleotide and amino acid sequences of the P32 gene of the goat pox virus samples collected in the Central-South region, Northern and Southern provinces of Vietnam was carried out to determine the relationship between these virus strains and the reference virus strains in Vietnam and in the Genbank. The analytical results showed that the P32 gene sequence having the highest similarity was 99.90 percent for nucleotide and 99.69 percent for amino acid among the virus strains.The mutation of nucleotide was observed at one position of the P32 gene that induced the change of one amino acid in only two sequences. Base on the phylogenetic analysis result, the goat poxvirus strains in Vietnam may have the original relationship with goat pox virus strains isolated in China.
