Han Mac Tu (1912 - 1940) was recognized as a singular talent in the New Poetry Movement in Vietnam from 1932 to 1945. Han Mac Tu's poetry is not only 'crazy' and mysterious with violent screams and howls, it is also pure because of its folk nuances. Han Mac Tu is known as a pure Oriental poetic inspiration. The beauty of Vietl)amese nature described in his poetry is full of ethnic nuances. However, at the end of his life, pure folk nuances disappeared from his poetry, perhaps because of heart-rending torment in his soul. Nevertheless, the contrast between the mysterious, surrealist and symbolic poesy and pure folk nuances is still regarded as distinctive of Han Mac Tu poetry.
