NAC transcription factors are a family of functionally diverse proteins. They are unique to plants and play an important role in regulation of plant growth and development, hormone regulation and responses to various stresses, the aging process, morphological development, signal transduction pathways and may play important roles in biotic and abiotic resistance pathways. In this study, the authors have amplified, cloned successfully and identified nucleotide sequencing of ZmNAC1 gene from DNA genome of local VX corn cultivar (Ha Giang). Sequence analysis showed that ZmNAC1 gene is 1.035bp long, coding region of ZmNAC1 gene is 939bp size, encoding for 312 amino acids. ZmNAC1 gene have 2 exons and 1 intron exon 1 is 471 bp size, exon 2 - 468 bp and intron is 96bp size. Comparison with NAC1 gene on GenBank (code number: EU810024), ZmNAC1 gene of cultivar VX appeared 6 different nucleotide positions at intron (487, 556, 557, 558, 559, 560) and position 181 of deductive amino acid sequence. ZmNAC1 sequencing is the basis for continue to study on characteristics of ZmNAC1 gene and relation between changes in the structure of ZmNAC1 gene with drought tolerance of maize.
