The descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted at Khanh Hoa General Hospital with 1000 beds from January to May, 2013 with the target subjects i.e. healthcare facilities, equipments to serve the process of sorting, collecting, transporting, and storing Medical Solid Waste (MSW) at hospital's 20 clinical departments and 5 paraclinical departments to access the status of the management of medical solid waste (M5W) at Khanh Hoa General Hospital 2013. The study results showed that MSW's average weight was 50.596kg/month (including normal MSW was 35.648kg/month and harmful MSW was 14.948kg/month)
MSW/GB/day's average weight was 1.67kg (including normal MSW was 1.18kg and harmful MSW was 0.49kg)
percentage of harmful MSW/MSW was 29.5 percent. Most departments have bags with thickness and volume in accordance with regulations, MSW bins with separate color-coded and they placed at the designated location
in the departments, containers with sharp objects in accordance with standards but they were not the colors as regulations (white and labeled yellow). There are some departments which had few MSW
MSW's time and transporting way followed to the regulations of hospital, healthcare staffs avoided dropping waste while transporting MSW. MSW's time for storing was not more than 24h and 48h in the departments and hospital, respectively.
