A cross-sectional descriptive study was applied to assess the supervision system of communicable diseases in 20 provinces of Viet Nam. The findings from the study show that: (1) The supervision system of communicable diseases had a clear and unified operation mechanism in all surveyed provinces, most of provincial preventive medicine centers/district health centers had teams in charge of supervision
(2) The rate of preventive medicine units at all levels who had completely and timely week and month reports was high at all levels
(3)Almost all of provincial and district preventive medicine units managed supervision data by computer combined with recording books, equiped specialized software, trained on supervision of communicable diseases leading epidemic
and (3) Most of provincial and district preventive medicine units have used data in forecasting epidemic and planning for communicable diseases prevention.
