According to several lines of studies, infertility rates among professional women as they put off marriage for schooling and career advancement. To achieve effective fertilization, sperms have to reach the expecting egg in a time manner. Sperm mobility and movement pattern were proposed to be important factors in determining whether a sperm can reach the egg for fertilization. However, very few studies were focused on the pattern of sperm movement. Investigating whether sperm movement pattern is an important factor in determining fertilization" the authors compared the movement characteristics of sperms from males in infertile couples vs. males from fertile couples. the authors collected 92 semen samples males with an age range from 25 - 48. the authors then compared the movement characteristics of the sperms from both group. Results: the authors found that MEAN sperm SPEED from fertile men were faster (VCL = 89.71 + 19.87, VAP = 58.35 + 12.92, VSL = 45.44 + 9.79 than sperms from primary and secondary infertile men. Similarly, the movement characteristics (UN and STR) of sperms from interfile males were lower than the control group, while there were no differences in the side-to-side head movement of the sperm between sperms from infertile and fertile males.
