The synthesis and structural characterization of ZrO2/Y0.l5Zr0.85O1.93/alpha-Al2O3 nanocomposite by gel combustion method using polyvinyl alcohol as a fuel were described in this paper. The preparative procedure of this nanocomposite was controlled by using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, electron dispersive spectroscopy measurements. The results revealed that the termperature of only 750°C and time of 2h required for gel calcinations to obtain the nanocomposite comprised of ZrO2 (Baddeleyite), tetragonal ZrO2/Y0.l5Zr0.85O1.93 and alpha-Al2O3 with average grain size 500 nm and high homogeneity were significantly lower and shorter than those of conventional preparative procedure. The crystalline phases and chemical composition of the obtained nanocomposite are comparable with those of commmercial composite.
