Constructed wetland has been known around the world as a solution for wastewater treatment technology level 2 with many outstanding features: achieve high perfonnance, low cost and stability, while contributing to increase the value of biodiversity, landscape and environment improvement This is the optimal choice for livestock wastewater treatment sector which has medium and small scales in Vietnam conditions. This study was conducted to detennine the hydraulic conductivity and hydraulic load ontimization to search for the appropriate filter material, which increases the processing efficiency of constructed wetland. By empirical methods, research was conducted on 8 filter materials, 7 fonnulas with 3 different hydraulic loads level, divided into 2 experiments. Research results show that the hydraulic conductivity depends on the type of filter material and combination of materials together. The much smaller of particle is and the much higher roughness is, the stronger conductivity hydraulic power is and vise versa. Formula wich has the best capable of handling waste water is VL6 (large gravel + small stones + background) and the optimal load is defined as 40 liters/day.
