The method for determination of sudan I-IV residue in egg yolk by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry was successfully developed and validated. The average recoveries for spiked samples in blank egg yolk at three spiking levels, 25.0, 50.0, and 100.0 ug/kg were as follows 78.3-103.6 percent (sudan 1),85.0-104.1 percent (sudan 11),80.6-113.8 percent (sudan 11I),94.5-114.2 percent (sudan IV) with the inter-precision was not higher than 7.7 percent, 29.6 percent, 29.5 percent, 28.6 percent of sudan I, sudan II, sudan III and sudan IV, respectively. The method is fit for purpose to detect the trace amount of the sudan I-IV residue at rate or
