300 specimens were collected from the hepatitis suspect ducks in four provinces: Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen and Sinh Dinh of South Central region, Vietnam. From these specimens, the rate of duck hepatitis virus infection was identified by RT-PCR technique that was 65.67 percent. Of which, the age group infected with duck hepatitis virus accounting for the highest rate was from less than 1 week old (88.46 percent)
following by 1 to less than 3 weeks old (72.41 percent), and the lowest rate was from 3 to 6 weeks old (30.00 percent). Standard antibody and type of duck hepatitis virus circulating in South Central region of Viet Nam was identified by RT-PCR technique. All viruses from the collected samples and 5 isolated duck hepatitis virus strains were identified belonging to genotype 1.
