Purpose: To describe the clinical characteristics and assess the outcomes of surgery in the treatment epithelial cysts in anterior chamber after trauma. Methods: A clinical interventional study on 10 cases of epithelial downgrowth - with epithelial cysts in anterior chamber after trauma, who were treated in Traumatic department at Vietnam National Institute of Ophthalmology (VNIO}from 1/2007 to 9/2012. Results: The 6 males and 4 females ranged from 4 to 53 years old. Time to appears cystic epithelial earliest 3 month to 35 years after injuries and surgery. All eyes were after penetrating eye injury. Two eyes with self-seal. Four eyes were primary suture the cornea, remove lens. Three eyes were put IOL. All cases were excision epithelial cysts. Initial visual acuity: 3 eyes were 0,02 or less, 3 eyes: 20/200, 3 eyes: 20/100, 1 eye: unknown. Visual outcomes after a follow up period of at least 3 months: 3 eyes were 0,02 or less (2 eyes were decompesation cornea oedema, 1eye was retinal detachment), 3 eyes: 20/200, 4 eyes: better of 20/200. Conclusion: Cystic epithelial downgrowth in to the anterior chamber after penetrating trauma or intraocular surgery is a rare complication. It is very important to recognize epithelial downgrowth because it can lead blinding sequelae.
