Background: the authors evaluate the results of retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy in the treatement of benign non-functioning kidney diseases in No.108 Central Military Hospital. Methods: Between March 2009 and June 2013, the retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy for unilateral benign non-functioning kidney diseases has been performed in 125 patients. Mean age was 53.7 (29 - 85), 44 men (35.2 percent) and 81 women (64,8 percent). Non-functioning kidneys were cause by renal calculi in 25 cases (20 percent), ureteral calculi in 75 cases (60 percent), ureteropelvic junction stricture in 17 cases (13.6 percent), and 8 patients with ureteral stricture after cesarean section (6.4 percent). Results: The retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy was successful in 97/125 patients (77.6 percent)
operation time was 131.5 + or - 51.6 min (70 - 330), blood lost was 30.7 ml (10 - 120)
open conversion in 28/125 patients (22.4 percent). The main intraoperative complication is haemorrhage in 7 cases (5.6 percent)

hospital stay was 5.7 + or - 1.6 days (3 - 11) and postoperative bleeding in 2 case (2.06 percent). Conclusion: Retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy for benign non~functionlng kidney diseases has emerged as a safe and effective alternative to open surgery.
