Background: Esophageal cancer is rare in disgestive cancer, ratio of male to female was 5.5:1. Prevalence is related to eating habits and smoking. Methods: Prospective, cross-sectional descriptive and uncontrolled study. Results: Sixty nine patients have suffered from mid-lower thoracic esophageal cancer performed by thoracoscopic esophagectomy. Operative time was 116.8 + or - 52.9 minutes), rate of in-operative complications was 5.8 percent, postoperative complication rate was 18.85 percent and immortality. Life quality of postoperation depends on stages. 100 percent patients with T2 stage live well (according to Kamofsky). 5-year survival was 11.76 percent. Conclusions: Thoracoscopic esophagectomy is safe and effective.
