Knowledge and behaviors of elderly people regarding hypertension are very important for their health. Object: To explore knowledge and behaviors of elderly people regarding hypertension and relationship to health behaviors. Methods: a cross sectional study using survey questionnaire was conducted involving 207 elderly people in Trau Quy, Gia Lam, Hanoi. Results: Low levels of awareness and knowledge regarding hypertension. Only 20.6 percent elders had knowledge of what hypertension was, 15.9 percent knew about signs and symptoms of hypertension, 30 percent about prevention. And the 41.5 percent elderly people regularly consumed salt, 31.9 percent did not exercise regularly, 11.1 percent had not measured their blood pressures, 28.1 percent with hypertension who did not treat to disease. Conclusion: Intervention programmers that enhance knowledge regarding blood pressure and healthy life behaviors.
