A cross-sectional study was carried out in total of 815 primary school children aged 7-10 at 4 primary schools in 2 mountainous communes of Pho Yen district, Thai Nguyen province. The results have showed that the prevalence of malnutrition were high: Underweight 30.7 percent, stunting 24.8 percent, and waiting 9.9 percent. There was no statistical difference in the prevalence of malnutrition among the schools. Anemia was reported as 38.9 percent, mainly, moderate and mild forms as the same as 4 schools. Poor micronutrient intakes and socio-economic situation were assumed as the related factors for poor nutrition anemia status.
