Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) have difficulties in communication, sensory perception, organization and prediction, all of which can be addressed using the TEACCH approach. This article describes TEACCH intervention and its core components. the pros and cons, and suggests strategies in the use of
rEACCH in Vietnam and the application of this approach when intervening to assist for children with ASD. TEACCH intervention strategies focus on physical and visual structure, schedules, work systems and task organization in order to maximize independence, communication and reduce improper behavior. For the TEACCH approach to be successful, conditions or considerations that must be taken into account are the physical environment, the number of teachers, training and practice, collaboration between the families and schools in creating the physical environment, consistent content and ways that to help children to acquire specific information and then make generalized use of that information in practice.
