Iron and steel are important to the national economy. To determine the quality or pig iron and steel it is necessary to do a quick and accurate analysis of the composition and concentration of alloys. In this paper the authors describe the use of the photometric method to determine Mn content in pig iron and steel based on the reaction of Mn2+ with formaldoxim. This method allows rapid analysis, that is applied to the batch of sample to ensure high accuracy and reliability.
