Background. The results of kidney biopsy play an important role in the treatment and prognosis of the patients with lupus nepheitis. Therefore, the authors conducted this study with the aim to access the association between the renal injury classification and the levels of immune complex deposition in kidney biopsy specimens of the patients with lupus nephritis. Patients and methods. This study included 81 lupus nephritis patients, who were diagnosed and carried out renal biopsy at the Nephro-Urology Department, Bach Mai Hospital. Results. In the lupus nephritis with Class I, the deposition of immune complex was infrequent. As for Class II, the deposition of immune complex was common
mainly the levels of deposition were rare and moderate. The Class III and Class IV lesions were typical of lupus nephritis with the deposition of immune complex being moderate. In the Class V, most of glomeruli had immune complex deposition in the glomerular basement membrane. In the Class IV, the deposition of immune complex was much more. Conclusions: The deposition of antibodies and comlement components in the different classes of lupus nephritis was statistically different with p0.05.
