Aims: Assay the results of shorten course (24 weeks) of peg-interferon alpha 2 a plus ribavirin in chronic hepatitis C patients with genotype 6 having rapid virologic response in clinical practice. Methods: 114 patient genotype 6 had been treated with 24 weeks peg-interferon alpha 2a 180 mcg per week plus ribavirin (1000 mg [ 75 kg], 1200 mg [ 75 kg]/day) in Clinic Hepatology of Ho Chi Minh city University Medical Center (UMC) and Sai Gon Liver Clinic (SLC). All RVR, EVR, SVR tests were performed by PCR HCV RNA CAP T48. The patients had RVR, EVR, SVR if the results of HCV RNA CAP T48 were " Target not detected" or "Target detected 15 IU/mL". Results: Sustained virologic response rate was 90,4 percent and relapse rate was 9,6 percent in this group. There were not difference between high and low viral load, CC and CT, mild and significantfibrosis groups (p0,05) but combined un favourable factors (high viral load and CT or significant fibrosis) had the tendency to increase relapse rate (16, 7 and 18,8 percent). Conclusion: 24 weeks treatment of peg-interferon alpha 2A plus ribavirin in chronic hepatitis C patients with genotype 6 having rapid virologic response had very high rate sustained virologic response in clinical practice.
