A study of establishing the biosafety model of black chicken rearing was conducted at the farmer household scale in Tien Giang province and its vicinity. The objective of this project was to build the biosafety model of black chicken rearing and transfer it to farmers. There were 60 farmer households trained about the biosafety measures in poultry production and 8 of these chosen to participate in the model with the scale of 1000 - 2000 heads per household. The farmer households taking part in the model implemented well three principles of the biosafety in livestock including keeping isolation with outside, ensuring hygiene conditions and actively killing germs by disinfecting and vaccination. Results showed that all investigated contents of chickens in the model (morbidity rate, loss rate, egg production etc.) were higher than those of outside the model. Of which the profit per production cycle/head was higher than 8180 VND. Through the building of the model, initially farmer households possessed the biosecurity approach of rasing black chicken, being exchanged experiences and learned new techniques for applying on a larger scale.
