Agricultural production in general and tea production in particular cope with many risks related to insects, epidemics, natural disasters and price fluctuation. Agricultural Insurance (AI) has been piloted in 21 provinces and cities in Vietnam. This policy plays an important role in encouraging farmers to stabilize and feel assured production. Based on the survey results from 80 households in Thanh S01l district with using Contingent Valuation Method (CVM), the study has identified the needs of tea growers for agricultural insurance. The research has identified that the insurance purchasing level of household farmers in average is 2024.46 thousand VND fha/year, and the total insurance fund of the district is about from 4.2 to 4.5 billion VND /year. The study has also analyzed a number of factors affecting the insurance purchasing level of tea household farmers: gender, education level, scale of tea production. Research has also suggested measures to increase the number of insurance participants for tea production in particular and agriculture in general.
