Media: MS, DKW and 1/10MS, all supplemented with vitamins and pic10ram (12 mg/L), were used for friable embryogenic callus (FEC) induction from auxilIary buds of in vitro cassava plants: The development of embryogenic calli was recorded after 14 days of culture in the dark at 28°C. At week 8th, TMS60444 produced friable embryogenic callus (FEC) in 1/10 MMS medium containing pic10ram 12 mg/L. KM140, however, did not produce FEC under the tested media and conditions. Whole plant was regenerated from friable embryonic callus of TMS60444. Initial results indicate successful transformantion of FEC with GFP. This is a basis for further study on friable embryogenic callus generation for Vietnamese cassava varieties, facilitating future creations of new cassava varieties, with high-yield, good quality and resistant to stress conditions by the method of biotechnology in general and approach of transgenic in particular.
