In order to compare the technical and economic status in different intensive shrimp (penaeus monodon) farms in Thanh Phu district, Ben Tre province, this study was carried out in three experimental ponds (Exp) and in other three ponds in each shrimp production system (PS) which consists of farmers ponds (Far), coorperative farmers' ponds (Cop) and company' ponds (Com). Results showed that ponds area of Cop (0.62 ha/pond) was larger than that in Exp (0.315), Far (0.553) and Com (5.43). 100 percent of stocked postparvae (PL12) were tested by PCR method in Exp and the PS. Culture periods of Exp and Cop were shorter than that in Far and Com but harvest sizes were not different (21.8 - 26.7 g/pieces). Feed conversion rate (FCR) in Exp (1.23) was lowest than that in the other PS (1.41-1.59). The survival rate (75.1-86.7 percent) and yield in Exp were not different from the other PS. Environmental parameter variations were suitable for shrimps growth (3.92 -4.70 percent/day and 0.17 - 0.23 g/day). Total cost was ranged from is VND 635-800 million/ha/crop. Cost price in Exp 91.6 thousand VND/kg was lower from 20.4 to 37.4 thousand VND/kg, but farm gate price (122 thousand VND/kg) was higher than from 3 to 21 thousand VND /kg in the other PS. Therefore, profit and benefit per cost in Exp were higher than tbat in the other PS. In addition, advantages and disadvantages in all PS were identified in this study.
