The terrain in Vo Nhai district is mainly mountainous which makes it difficult for local people to take patients to health centers. Therefore, with their accumulated experience, ethnic minorities including the Mong group are used to self-healing for themselves and their neighbors with plants. There are many effective remedies but they are only used in a small range which leads to a requirement that more attention should be paid for the search and the evaluation of the trees used as valuable medicines. By interviewing, collecting and processing samples, and classifYing plants, the authorshave obtained the following results: there are 86 plant species belonging to 28 families, 22 ordoes of 3 sectors (Lycopodiophyta, Polypodiophyta and Angiospermatophyta) which are used as medicines
there are 07 groups of diseases and 16 prescriptions are often used by the Mong group in the village of Vu Tran, Nghinh Tuong and Cuc Duong to treat a number of common diseases.
