The Capacity Spectrum Method (CSM) is recommended by ATC-40 as a tool for a quick estimate to evaluate the seismic performance of structures. The procedure estimates the target displacement through the capacity curve performance and the demand spectrum graphically. The Modal Pushover Analysis procedure proposed by Chopra and Goel, which includes contributions of several modes of vibration, has increased the accuracy of high buildings, however, it takes a lot of time to solve nonlinear equation of equivalent SDP system. The article reviews the accuracy and bias of MPA, in which target displacement is determined by CSM (MPA-CSM) in response to structure with higher modes effects. The results of CSM are then compared with the Standard Pushover Analysis (SPA), MPA and Nonlinear Response History Analysis (NL-RHA).
