Based on the application of combination of statistical models and physical tectonic methods, the authors have tested the earthquake prediction for Vietnam and adjacent areas in two different cases. The obtained results show that predicted earthquakes in both cases were mainly distributed in northwestern Vietnam and were situated along some major fault zones such as the Lai Chau - Dien Bien, Muong Te, Nam Khum, Song Da - San La and Song Ma Faults or near the intersection of these fault zones. Based on these results the synthetic earthquake prediction maps were generated by combination of methods for the study area and a number of high seismic risk areas (Mmax or = 6.0) were delineated in the North, Central and South Viet Nam.
