In the field of teaching - learning and assessing English competency, the application of real assessment in assessing English ability of learners is receiving the attention of educators. In order for the use of real assessment to be effectively implemented, the writer has synthesized the studies on real assessment, proposed some measures and tested the necessity and feasibility of these measures for 55 lectures. English teachers at universities in Vietnam. In the article, the author briefly presents the research on real assessment and summary report of research results that the author has done.
