After World War II, political sociology specialized in the combination of political and social science. This predestined relationship comes from an attempt to apply a sociological perspective in empirical studies of the political phenomena of some Western scholars. Political sociology then developed strongly, contributing many theoretical and empirical achievements to the discipline of sociology in particular and political science, and the article aimed at briefing the process of formation and development of the field. This is quite new in Vietnam, and at the same time suggests some prospects for political sociological analysis in the current context.
